Conservation Day

At Bay Learning Academy our English students are encouraged to participate in conservation activities. As part of this program, the school goes planting and maintaining part of a new forest in the Kaimai Range. We travel up to the forest several times a year to help in the planting of a tree corridor that now connects Ōtanewainuku forest reserve to a forest that extends over 50 kilometres along the Mamaku Range. This provides extended habitats for wildlife like the vulnerable North Island Brown Kiwi and the at risk Kōkako in the Tauranga and Bay of Plenty region.
